The Flu that is Flattening Us 🤧

The Flu that is Flattening Us 🤧

Half of New Zealand is coughing, and apparently it’s the worst flu season we've had in a decade. Hospitalisations in Auckland are at a ten-year high and national infection rates are at a four-year high. What makes it worse is that experts think that the peak might still be a few weeks away.

A review published in Nutrients this February pulled together the trials on zinc and respiratory infection. Zinc is clinically useful for prevention of viral infections, including Influenza A. Sustained supplementation reduced how often people got sick, especially those who were low in zinc to begin with.

Getting zinc where it needs to go

Zinc doesn't do its work floating around in your blood. It has to get inside cells, and cell membranes are fatty and unfriendly to a charged mineral.

This is where quercetin comes in as part of the Zestt Breathe+ formula. Quercetin acts as a zinc ionophore, which means it ferries zinc across lipid membranes, raising zinc levels inside the cell. This is why we pair zinc and quercetin inside the lozenge and liquid formulations.

We also include anthocyanins in Zest Breathe+  for their anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties, as well as BLIS K12 oral probiotics (lozenges only), which support mucosal immune defences in your mouth and throat.

Prevention is better than cure, as the old saying goes, so don’t wait until you get sick to stock up on Zestt Breathe+.

It’s flying out the door right now! ✈️
